Where it all started…

Project HBCU traces its roots back to 2018 when Britnee’ Morgan founded Breaking; The Stigma at North Carolina Central University. This initiative was created to challenge and dismantle negative perceptions surrounding mental illness and suicide within the Black community. Through interactive activities, Breaking; The Stigma brought the NCCU community together to openly discuss mental health, educate one another, and promote healing. The success of this program laid the foundation for what would later become Project HBCU, expanding its mission nationwide to support Black college students in navigating mental health challenges throughout their academic journey.
